Good Tired

This week, I’m feeling “good tired” for the first time in ages – tired in the way a runner is tired at the end of a race, or a mountain climber when she finally reaches the peak, rather than tired the way a couch potato is perpetually tired. Exhilarated-tired, versus lethargic.

Improv has everything to do with it. When I am spending my days immersed in the ‘prov, I am blissful. My mind isn’t wandering – “what else could/should I be doing?” I am present and engaged. I am connecting. I am in a state of flow… which reminds me of this quote:

“Man is most nearly himself when he achieves the seriousness of a child at play.” -Heraclitus

What activity puts you in this “serious” state?

Great to stumble on this, and read a brief post that makes me feel like the world is trying to tell me something – there are been a series of ‘get present’, ‘be’ ‘make beautiful things even if no one cares’ messages coming at me lately. I only hope I listen….
This one hooked me in with the Improv reference. My old friend has come home for a short holiday from living NY and she is Improv mad…

And just clicked to the about page. Exhilarating to find you.

Ruby: I’m glad to be part of the universe’s message to you :) I hope you find blogging as rewarding as I have!

I know what you mean. I don’t call it tired. I call it sweet exhaustion or acute awareness or just pure delight. I love how that feels after hours of yoga and wish that I could live to constantly exercise my body and my brain. Sigh. Such a good thought :)!

Farnoosh, I love your terms – all of them. And speaking of yoga, I’m going on a yoga retreat next week – I’ll cherish the sweet exhaustion :)
